Annual Medical Examination

Annual Medical Examination

Evidence based periodic health examinations can help in detection and subsequent prevention or early treatment for conditions such as high blood pressure, alcohol abuse, smoking, unhealthy diet, obesity etc

Annual Medical ExaminationAn Annual medical examination is a routine procedure to evaluate a person’s overall health. Along with an understanding of your medical history, it involves examining you, your vitals such as blood pressure, and any issues you may be experiencing. Most people get a medical examination as a preventive measure, but it can be undertaken as a routine check-up.

An annual medical examination with RAiN MedClinic is tailored to your needs in an unhurried and supportive environment and it is conducted by our medical professionals.

What does the Annual Medical Examination include?

The procedure starts with a consultation, where you and the doctor have a discussion regarding the examination. All of your questions can be answered by the doctor. Having a record of your medical history, the first time you meet, including medical events undergone in the past, present symptoms, risk factors, and family medical history, will be helpful. The doctor will also discuss past illness, surgeries, immunizations, diet, exercise, reproductive history, and your overall lifestyle.

In the case of children, the doctor will ask about prenatal, neonatal, and current growth and development. Additionally, they will ask about maternal illness and exposure to drugs, if any. The information helps our doctors devise a plan for your physical evaluation.

Physical Examination

On the basis of your health history, the doctor then proceeds to examine you. A general examination includes:

  • Measuring height and weight
  • Examining skin, eyes, nose, ears, mouth and throat
  • Checking reflexes
  • Listening to the heart and lungs
  • Feeling the abdomen to check for any abnormality in organs like spleen, liver or kidneys
  • Pulse and blood pressure check

Gender-Specific Tests

Depending on your age and gender, you may be required to undergo additional tests. This also includes complete screening for cancer, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses.

  • Clinical breast examination for women.
  • A gynecological examination also including Pap smear test.
  • Osteoporosis screening to examine bone density.
  • A digital rectal examination for any abnormalities in the lower part of the rectum and to inspect the condition of the prostate in men.
  • Checking testicles in men.

For children a complete physical examination involves::

  • Measuring the head circumference in infants.
  • Assessing fine and gross motor developments and reflexes.

Blood and Lab Tests

A medical examination may require comprehensive laboratory tests that help us in detecting health complications. This generally includes blood, urine and stool tests.

Follow-up & After Care

After the examination, the doctor will discuss the findings, and recommend treatments or follow-up as required. Additionally, the doctor will recommend preventive measures and provide guidance for living healthy.
