Minor Medical Procedures

Minor Medical ProceduresMinor Medical Procedures are surgical procedures that require cutting and stitching of body tissue. With the ever evolving medical techniques, many surgeries today do not require deep lacerations.

Minor surgical procedures are surgeries that usually require less than 2 hours and have shorter recovery periods. Minor procedures are generally performed under the effects of local anaesthesia and can be done on the same day as the diagnosis at our state of the art clinic. Barring any complications, the patient is discharged on the same day as the procedure and can recuperate well at home.

Minor Medical Procedures

Wart Treatment

Warts are small, fleshy growths on the skin caused by HPV (human papillomavirus). They are classified in 3 main categories: Plantar, Flat and Genital. Although most warts are harmless, they can mar your appearance and get infected too. It is always recommended to get them inspected by a medical professional especially genital ones to avoid complications.

The three minor procedures for warts removal are Electrosurgery, Curettage and Laser. Depending on the location, size and type of the wart, one of these three procedures is chosen. All these techniques are equally safe and our doctors can help you pick the option best for your procedure.

Laceration Treatment

Laceration means a cut to the skin or a tear in the muscle. Deep or shallow, large or small, all lacerations need to be treated in order to promote healing and avoid infestation. Small and shallow lacerations are something we face every day and can be treated simply by cleaning the wound and bandaging it. But deep lacerations need immediate medical attention and sutures.

Lacerations are mainly of 6 types: Incisions, Abrasions, Blunt trauma wounds, Puncture wounds, Penetration wounds and GSWs. Depending on the cut, the wound is cleaned and stitched by a surgeon. If there is a wound to one of the vital organs, a precautionary X-ray or MRI might be required. To prevent the risk of infection and swelling, our surgeon may also prescribe you a course of antibiotics.

Cast Removal

Broken bones and tendons need extra care and attention at every stage of the treatment including while removing the cast. Since a large number of broken bone injuries is faced by children, it’s important to pay extra attention to the procedure. Our doctors take special care to ensure the removal is done safely without affecting your child.

The  doctor will first examine the injury systematically and may request an extra set of X-rays to prevent any complications. If there are no issues, the cast is removed with an electrical saw with blunt edges that cracks the POP with its vibration. This ensures that there is no harm done with the blade. Our doctors will also prescribe precautionary measures to prevent any injury of the newly healed bones.

Skin Biopsies

Skin biopsies are required to remove lesions or take a sample of the lesions and rashes in an infected area. The different methods that can be used to perform biopsies are Incisions, punch, shave, curettage and needle. Depending on the location and the type of your lesion, the right process is selected by our doctor.

Biopsies can be painful if not performed correctly. Our doctors take exceptional care to make this procedure a pain free one for you.

Our pro-active and polite staff helps you deal with any of these procedures effectively. We also help you in a number of other minor medical procedures and minor surgeries such as Suture Removals, Ear Cleaning and Abrasions.
